NELSON'S GARDEN
My daughter Colleen Esposito and I are the proud co-authors of the Nelson's Garden series. Once upon a time, we met a very old man from Weston, Massachusetts named Nelson McNutt. He was quite a local legend and lived to be 105 years old.
Nelson used to wave to passersby as he tended his garden. Our story is about two sisters named Belle and Rosie (Colleen's daughters) who have a summer wish to learn how to grow a garden. Both books are filled with gorgeous illustrations of a garden in full bloom and both stories are filled with timeless messages about the importance of respect for your elders, friendship at any age, and the belief that if you put kindness out into the world, it can't help but take root and grow.

Missy was one of my lifelong best friends. A social worker by trade, she tapped into her experience as a domestic and sexual abuse survivor to counsel women in crisis. About a year before she died of breast cancer, Missy asked me to establish a fund in her name. The Sweet Melissa Fund provides emergency financial assistance to women and their families.
